GLOBAL AID HAND (GAH)

Our Aim is to reduce cross-cutting challenges throughout the humanitarian sectors such as:

  • Gender-based violence (GBV) especially against women and children.
  • HIV/AIDS related community challenges and stigmas.
  • Discrimination of women, female children and youth.
  • Mine related accidents and death (awareness, information sharing etc.)
  • Community strengthening participation and contribution to change.

We are committed to improve and increase:

  • Peace building and conflict mitigation in all our activities throughout the conflicted geographical areas in Sudan aiming to bring peace and reconciliation between conflicted tribes and ethnic groups.
  • Community reintegration and capacity building for them to function as a self-supporting community with reachable potentials and goals.

In the portfolio of the organization, women, children, and young people are in a central position we envision to guide them to develop their full potential in a peaceful environment where they become effective members in the society.

Fighting poverty is extremely challenging in times of a humanitarian crisis. Our emergency projects and services are designed to address life saving, survival needs to help eliminate the most chronic situation that can follow the early reconstruction and normalizing of life of the targeted people.

Our focus in emergency is to safeguard children and their families and provide them shelter and protection, food, water and sanitation to be able to live a dignified life even in times of insecurity and a sense of reconstruction early in the intervention.

Our education programs’ primary aim is to promote education amongst the underprivileged children, youth and adults. We work to cater for the moral, spiritual and physical needs of these children and adults, particularly women through appropriate education and training programs in an integrated approach considering other needs for children.

We promote Education for All approach in the vulnerable communities with a significant attention on the education of girls. Vocational training, lifelong learning education approaches and skills are built into our projects (in literacy, numeracy, communication and ICT). We help children to go to – and stay in – school. As part of the Education for All objectives, we intend to help orphans to achieve their full potential.

Health and Nutrition

One cannot be economically stable with ill health. Increasing maternal care is among our top priorities. We work with women in remote communities to empower them with resources and information (through-improved health and nutrition) to safeguard pregnancies to ensure access to safe birth as a basic human right. We train community health workers, equip local clinics, carry out education campaigns, respond to disease outbreaks and advocate for improving the legal framework of rural health services.

We are also committed throughout our programs to integrate HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria related information sharing, awareness into our activities to reduce the number of ill health cases and improve the general health conditions.

Global Aid Hand is committed to the Convention on the Right of the Child (1989) and the practical deliveries outlined in the convention. We believe in the rights of the children to be protected from economic exploitation, harmful work, sexual exploitation and abuse, and from physical or mental violence. We try to ensure that children will not be separated from their families against their will.

We work in remote rural communities and empower community members by sharing information on the rights of all. We advocate for the physical and mental well-being for safeguarded and peaceful development and growth.  We contribute to the shaping of legal frameworks in collaboration with the government welfare offices and other humanitarian partners.

Gender-based violence (GBV) is one of the least-recognized human right abuses in the world. By including gender, equity in all Global Aid Hand’s programming, our approach addresses underlying causes of gender-based violence. We intensively support health services for women and girls who suffer from GBV, and other harmful practices and advocate for improvement of the legislative frameworks (laws and policies) to better protect and empower women. The main activities in this sector:

  • Child Protection Programs
  • Gender-based Development and Empowerment
  • Access to Justices Programs
  • Mine Action.

Access to clean water is a basic human right. Global Aid Hand helps communities to build and maintain clean water resources and systems for humans and their animals. The goal of our WASH activities is to reduce the health risks connected to water-borne diseases and to improve the life quality of the families by reducing time and distance in fetching water. Projects highlight the importance of appropriate sanitation practices that contribute to the health and life quality of the entire family. Approaches include educating people about good hygiene and sanitation practices to reduce the risk of ill health through community led initiatives.

Food Security and Livelihoods/ Early Recovery Programs

GAH emergency initiatives always direct to early recovery and development by building sustainability components into all activities. Our food security and livelihood programs reflect the early recovery approaches and enhance stable middle and long-term sustainability for vulnerable families such as Internally Displaced People, nomadic communities, rural villagers and returnees.

Conflict sensitive approaches are used in each food security and livelihood initiative based on internationally recognized concepts and approaches to enhance community coexistence and mitigate conflict. The intervention areas are:

  • Sustainable food security and livelihood management, subsistence farming and natural resource management.

Our organization has realized that provision of quality services can be done only through

The quality within the organization that provides the services. Therefore, GAH is committed to build the capacity of human resources in its own organization and other partner organizations as well. Qualified staff deliver quality services in both technical (sector related) and managerial areas.
